TAYLOR

Death of G. J. Taylor - George Jennings Taylor died this morning at 4 o'clock at the home of J. H. Garrison, one mile south of Bloomington. HE was 69 years old and the father of 10 children, seven of whom still survive. He was born in Floyd county, Ky., and moved to Indiana in 1834. He has been a resident of Monroe county for 60 years. He was a private in CO. B. 4th regiment, Indiana volunteers in the Mexican war and served till the close of the war. After the war he moved to Ellettsville, where for years he was a trusted employee of Matthew Bros.  For the past ten years he has lived in Bloomington. He has been a member of the M. OLD SOLDIER DEAD - William Berry Taylor, 82 years old, Civil war veteran and proprietor of a suburban grocery on West Kirkwood avenue, died Sunday at 3 o'clock of double pneumonia. He moved here from Dugger about two years ago. He is survived by the widow and two children, Mrs. Pickett, and Mrs. Quillen, of Dugger. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Short funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Elder A. W. Harvey. William R Taylor - Born April 6, 1925 in Monroe Co., IN - Died Feb 19, 1997 in Bloomington, IN - Parents were Chester and Gail (Beaumont) Taylor.  Survived by his wife, Wanda R (Groves) Taylor; son, Craig Taylor and two granddaughters.  Preceded in death by his son, Danny Ray Taylor and brothers, Melvin and Eugene Taylor.  Services at Day Mortuary with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. TORPHY

Former resident dies in Bedford - Funeral services will be held at 9 a. m. Thursday from the St. Vincent de Paul church at Bedford for Mrs. Mary Torphy, widow of the late John Torphy, former local stoneman. The Torphys lived for a long number of years on West Kirkwood, in this city. The survivors are one step-son, J. L. Torphy and a brother, Domer Maroney, of St. Louis.
